When your BMW 1 Series battery dies out of the blue a starter power supply can be a lifesaver. This little device lets you jump start your car without another vehicle. Here’s how to start your BMW 1 Series with a starter power supply.
1. Get Your Gear
Before you start make sure you have:
-
A fully charged starter power supply
-
Vehicle cables with clamp connectors
-
Safety gear, gloves and goggles
-
Your BMW 1 Series owner’s manual (for reference)
2. Get Your BMW 1 Series Ready
First make sure your BMW 1 Series is in a safe position. Put it in park (automatic) or neutral (manual) and engage the parking brake. Turn off all non-essential electrical accessories to save battery power.
3. Find and Access the Battery
Open the hood of your BMW 1 Series and find the battery. It’s usually located near the engine. Wear your safety gear to protect yourself from any sparks or battery acid.
4. Connect the Starter Power Supply
Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal of your BMW 1 Series battery. This terminal is usually marked with a plus sign (+). Additionally, connect the black clamp to the negative terminal. This one is typically marked with a minus sign (-) or the abbreviation GND. Make sure the clamps are secure and don’t connect to any moving parts.
5. Start Your BMW 1 Series
If your starter power supply has a power switch turn it on. Now try to start your BMW 1 Series. If it turns over and starts, let it run for a few minutes to give the battery a little boost.
6. Disconnect the Starter Power Supply
Once your BMW 1 Series is running, disconnect the black clamp from the negative terminal first. Then disconnect the red clamp from the positive terminal. Close the hood and your good to go.
By following these simple steps you can jump start your BMW 1 Series with a starter power supply. Remember to keep your starter power supply charged and in your vehicle for next time. Happy motoring!
